Inspire me baby

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Here is another wonderful site dedicated to inspiring photographers and is really such a helpful resource and I’m thrilled to have been featured on it twice. It’s called Inspire me baby!

One of my sunrise maternity images was used for inspirational post about silhouettes, here is that shot…

They also featured another session of mine done last winter, as usually families don’t do sessions outdoors in the winter when they have young children, but it can be done and it can have great results, and I highly recommend doing an outdoor winter session if you love winter and the snow.

Here are a couple of images from that session…

Maureen and Ervin and their boys – MPH Photography – Toronto

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

When Maureen and Ervin first contacted me and set up this family session, they told me their sons, Nicholas 17 and Andrew 14 would also join them in the session and that’s when panic set in. I have photographed every age and both male and female, but never 2 teenage boys together. Now, I have 2 boys of my own, 8 and 5 and so I’m no stranger to boys but I wasn’t sure how I was going to photograph these two youngens. What poses do I put them in that is cool and that they will like, and will they behave, or just not want to be there at all. How was I going to get them to have fun?

I worried for nothing because when I met this family and their boys, I was totally taken by surprised to see two very mature and polite boys. The whole family was nice, and such a pleasure to photograph. They were very well dressed and even though it was boiling hot out, they managed to smile through every shot. We really had a lovely time, and the boys had me laughing more than once and it was a wonderful session.

I realized that my boys have the same age difference and in a few years from now, they will be the ones that are going into highschool and then graduating and when the time comes for my family to get a session done, I hope its jut like that one I did for Maureen and Ervin and their boys.

To the Herold family, thanks again for coming out in the heat and for being so wonderful to work it. We hope you enjoy your sneak peek and hope you also have a wonderful summer.

Verity Headshots

Friday, April 8th, 2011

It has been a crazy busy month for me and I just haven’t had a chance to blog and so you’ll be seeing a few posts in the next few days to make up for the loss of time.

To start things off, we had a photo shoot at the elegant women’s only club in downtown Toronto,  http://www.verity.ca/. When you step through the beautiful doors that lead you into the club, you are filled with a sense of peace and relaxation, the aroma and the ambiance is quite perfect,  the beautiful surroundings take you to another place and time.  You can tell how much loving care the owner Mary Aikten has put into this well thought out club.  Almost like an oasis in the middle of downtown Toronto, a place to get away and relax at the spa, take a dip in the pool or get your hair done, set up meetings, or have lunch or dinner with a few friends at the ever popular restaurant named George. Chef Loseto will mesmerize your taste buds and the courtyard in the summer is said to be Toronto’s most romantic courtyard.

We spent 3 wonderful days meeting and photographing staff and members and it was really lovely meeting so many inspiring and awesome women, and a few men too. We enjoyed photographing everyone and had a few laughs and took some lovely shots in the process. It was definitely a pleasure photographing everyone and we look forward to doing it again soon.

Special thanks to Mary for hiring us to photograph everyone and we also have to thank Louise for setting up everything for us, as far as schedules and keeping everyone on time and taking such good care of us while we were there and for referring me for this as Louise a returning client, and we must have done at least 3-4 sessions together by now and it means the world to me when clients love me and my work enough to tell other people about me, I’m constantly humbled and honoured when others spread the word about me.

Here are a few shots from the time we spent there….

10 days old – Newborn – MPH Photography – Toronto – Manuella

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Happy New year to everyone and what a great way to start off 2011 but with another newborn session. Ended 2010 with a newborn session and beginning a new year with another one.

I need to start off this session with a bit of history, my mother had a very good friend named Ria and when she became pregnant my mother threw her a baby shower and on the same day found out that she too was pregnant with me, Tina and I are only 5 months apart and have been friends all our lives. Fast forward almost 40 years later and Tina is now a mommy too, and she’s the Godmother of both my boys as well.

We’ve been anxiously awaiting Helena’s arrival and I was so excited to do a session with her. She was born on Dec. 23, Christmas baby and all of 10 days old and totally sweet and cute and cuddly and adorable and a pretty good model too. Took a bit of time (which allowed her mommy and I to catch up a bit) but eventually she fell asleep and although we were near the end of the session we managed to get some great shots of this lil angel.

Tina has been a great friend throughout my life and I know she’ll be an amazing mommy too, she’s always been a supportive friend and fabulous Godmother, but also one of my biggest fans when it came to my work, she actually pushed me to start up MPH Photography and I can’t thank her for giving me that kick in the butt to get out there. Without friends and family like her, I would not be where I am, and not only will she have my friendship for life but she’ll have my eternal gratitude as well. My boys love her and I can’t wait for them to get to know their God sister and for us to sit and chat while we watch our little ones play and laugh and grow together.

Tina and Andrew, it’s be an honour capturing your little girl’s first days of life and I look forward to being there for many more special occasions. Love you all. Filia polla (which means “lots of kisses” in greek).

Winter session – Amy and her family – MPH Photography – Toronto

Monday, December 6th, 2010

I must admit I’m a summer girl, but there is something about a cold winter night and while the snow is falling outside and creating a winter wonderland, I’m inside with my family enjoying life and our time together, putting up the Christmas tree and having some hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music. What could be better? I do long for the days when I can wear my sandals again, cuz I hate wearing socks but I also enjoy this time of year and love watching my boys come home with rosy cheeks and  get all excited for Christmas and I think I’m  more impatient then they are, as I can’t wait to see them dig into their presents early Christmas morning. As we celebrate Christ’s birth, its a time for giving and loving and being kind and spending time with the ones you love and I just want to take this opportunity and wish you all nothing but love and joy this blessed season.

Although it can get quite cold here in Toronto, I always look forward to doing winter sessions and I just had two of the most awesome sessions a photographer could ask for this past weekend. On Saturday we met up with Amy and her hubby Joe and their daughter Maya, whom we have photographed several times now and each session is more fantastic than the last. Then on Sunday we had such a fun winter session with two great people who shall remain nameless at this point as these pictures will be a surprise Christmas present to a loved one, so stay tune for this session to be posted on Christmas eve most likely.

Saturday was a wee bit cold but we managed to stay warm as we ducked in and out of places through the session. We met up with Amy at the starbucks downtown right across Nathan Philips Square and we actually started there and then headed over to the square from there. Love the big Christmas tree they have there and of course the skating rink and then if that’s enough you can always go a little bit of shopping afterwards at the Eaton’s centre (which we did, lol).

Little Maya was such a trouper, never complained about the cold and I could have photographed her sweet angelic face all day but she needed to go home for a nap, and who am I to stand in between a girl and her nap, lol. I love Amy and have photographed her since she was pregnant with Maya and it always gives me such joy when they ask me to photograph their precious family again. Maya’s image that I took was even chosen to be on the cover of  Today’s parent Toronto’s Baby guide, and I know we were both excited when that happened in the spring of 2010. http://www.todaysparent.com/toronto/article.jsp?content=20100415_145127_5016&page=1

People are often hesitant to do a winter session especially with a little one, but this session was a perfect example of how well it can work out, and I highly recommend them as they can be so much fun. Thanks Amy, Joe and Maya it was so lovely to see you all again, can’t wait til next time already!!lol.

This blue hat below was made by a local gal named Bridget Glauner-Rattew and her store is called Noggins 2 piggies,  she makes fabulous stuff for the little ones, I will be writing a post about her real soon as I love her stuff, but you can find her etsy store here if you want to check out her creations in the meantime. http://www.etsy.com/shop/noggins2piggies

Amy brought lots of cute hats as well.

We were really hoping it would snow, and don’t you know it actually did start to snow, a little, and I kinda helped the snow a bit in the post processing for a couple of images ;)
