Wedding day

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

For March it was unusually warm out, and with the sun beaming down on us it almost felt warm enough for shorts. It was definitely a great day for a wedding and I knew this was going to be a fun and unique wedding, one that I will never forget.

As I saw Mr. Jean-Marc striding up the path all dressed in his wedding attire, what with the sparkly shoes and the multi coloured checkered shirt or his white rimmed glasses or that stunning blue prada broach my eyes couldn’t contain their joy. So many beautiful things to photograph, never mind the tiffany and cartier wedding bands, and the louis vuitton dog collar were all fabulous too, and I so need one of those LV collars, it doesn’t matter that I don’t have a dog yet, lol. JM was a bit nervous but ready to go, soon the rest of the party joined us and then Tim strolled up with Louis their gorgeous little doogie and we were ready to go.

We did all the formal shots before the wedding at Allan gardens in downtown Toronto and once we were done we drove on over to Sassafraz in Yorkville for the ceremony and reception. I forgot how busy dowtown T.O. is on a Saturday afternoon, but we got to the restaurant and shortly after that the ceremony began. Everything went by so quick, as often wedding days do and after the ceremony came the yummy appetizers and then a fantastic dinner. We had many choices but I chose beef tederloin with lobster pommes thermidor and mushroom spinach saute which melted in my mouth (can you tell I love food?). Right before the main course, I had baby spinach with blueberries and maple roasted walnuts and goat cheese, and I have to say that is my new favourite salad. Dessert, again a choice and I chose the decadent chocolate marquis with mousse and ganache and lavender raspberry sauce, I was so full that I could only manage a couple of bites but it was wonderful.

I can not express how much fun my team and I had, everyone was so warm and kind and affectionate and such a super fun wedding party, and we barely stopped smiling all day. My thanks go out to the happy couple, Tim and J.M. along with best wishes and a long happy life together. Enjoy your sneak peeks.

Spring is around the corner..

Monday, March 1st, 2010

What a weekend, there were highs and lows and I’m pooped and its Monday and there is so much to get done this week before the fabulous wedding I’m shooting on Saturday, come back to see a sneak peek of that next weekend.

I was suppose to have two e-sessions this past weekend but for a few reasons they have been postponed, and I can’t tell you how disappointed I was as I was itching to get out there in the snow and take some fun shots of happy couples.  I know it will happen though, I just have to learn to be patient and wait a little longer. The good thing is that I’m booking up quickly and I’m so looking forward to this spring and summer as there are many wonderful sessions coming up,  so make sure you come back every so often as I promise to be posting like mad this spring/summer.

Speaking of spring, doesn’t it make you happy to know its around the corner, 19 more days officially, so basically winter is over, woo hoo, couldn’t come soon enough for me as I can’t wait to get out there and do outdoor sessions again, studio sessions are nice, but I love me my outdoor sessions best. In honour of spring being on a few weeks away, I’m sending my hubby to http://www.theweddingcakeshoppe.com/ to get me a cocount cupcake, and if you are in the GTA then I suggest you go grab yourself a decadent treat to celebrate too!!!!

So, instead of shooting, I immersed myself in the olympic games, with speed skating, skiing, curling and my most fave HOCKEY!!! It was so awesome when the Canadian girl hockey team won over the US and yesterday was the boys turn. I must say that we definitely rocked and we showed the world whose game this is!!!! I almost had a heart attack as the US tied the score in the last few seconds and forced us into overtime. I was holding my breath as they started overtime, squeezing whatever I could find so hard that I felt a few blood vessels burst, lol, but fortunately I didn’t have to do that for long as our hero, our young Canadian Sid Crosby took that puck and put it…. well in the net, lol. To say that the whole country celebrated is an understatement, as in just about ever city in Canada there were parties and parades and streets were being closed down for the grand celebration. I know we are proud Canadians but this made our wings sprout and turned us into boosting peacocks for a day. We’ll settle down eventually and become those quiet and kind Canadians again but for now we are PARTYING like there is no tomorrow, WTG CANADA!!!! This will be an olympic to remember….

When I don’t get to do a session for some reason, and I have an itchy finger and need to shoot something, I shoot my son, lol. At least one of my children will pose for me, the other will not, so until he does then I will have to only photograph the older one. So here is George, dressed up for church, lately its either all white or all black that he wants to wear to church, its funny, cute and a wee bit frustrating too as he can’t keep wearing only two outfits to church over and over again, lol.

12 days old

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Well I have been waiting to meet this little guy for about 9 months now, lol. I was so excited when my good friend and client came back from Africa and told me she brought something with her. Then she told me that she was expecting baby #5 and since I had already done a few sessions with her, I was extremely excited, and I always love doing more, as you will see she’s beautiful and her and hubby Nick make beautiful babies too.

I would love to introduce you all to Mr. Kael McKenny. Such a sweet little guy with TONS of hair, super soft hair too, ooh my how he made me want another one. So tiny and sweet and precious, I wanted to kiss him and not stop.

Kael did pretty good for his first time in front of the camera, slept most of the time and was quite happy and content, he was definitely a pleasure to photograph.

Dani, is a hero of mine, not only has she travelled the world and just came back from Africa with 3 kids in toe, but she has 5 wonderful children and just had the last one VBA3C (Vaginal Birth After THREE Cesareans). She’s also a breast feeding activist and natural childbirth advocate, she is one strong woman and I truly admire her so much.

If you live in the GTA then pop on over to http://www.naturalmothering.ca/ you’ll find a few of us there chit chatting and sharing stories and getting together every so often and we all bring some yummy food and wine. It’s a great place and I’m very happy to be part of such a wonderful group of ladies.

Ok, enough chit chatting, here is the star himself, Kael. Enjoy your sneak peeks Dani.

Valentine’s Day Baptism

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I can honestly say that this is a first for me, as I have never spent a Valentine’s day photographing a baptism, and I have to say what a great way to celebrate the day of Love.  Not only did I get photograph this great event, but I met some wonderful people, began some new friendships and as a bonus I also got to eat a wonderful dinner followed by yummy dessert and I even got to dance a little as well, what else could a girl want on v-day, oh and I can’t forget that my sweet husband did give me a tiffany necklace and bracelet charm set which I absolutely love, so it was a perfect day in my books, ok, I could have done without the cold, but everything else was perfect.

This sweet little boy is 6 months old and he stole everyone’s heart at the baptism including mine. His lovely and cute and adorable parents were so proud and so happy and along with their adorable little girl, they have a perfect family.

The baptism was at St. John’s greek orthodox church followed by a reception at Spirale banquet hall where everyone enjoyed a wonderful meal and then a bit of greek dancing. It was a great night and I was honoured to be a part of it. I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks Georgia.

Mother & Daughter

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Here are a few more from my session with Sandra and Ori, they look more like sisters than mother and daughter, don’t you think? These two were so much fun and although it was cold outside, the studio was nice and warm and cozy and we started off there and finished in the graffitti’d alley way, and by the time we went outside it got milder out too, woo hoo. Bring on spring already, lol.

The girls

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

More of the girls. They are all cousins and gosh so cute.

More of my boys…

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Here are just a few more shots of my sweet little munchkins, my monkeys that drive me crazy but yet with one hug, all is right in the world. When I see them sleep in their beds and I know they are safe and sound and dreaming, I feel so blessed. I also feel blessed when they are writing on the walls and beating up each other and tracking in mud with their boots, but at those times I’m also pulling out my hair, lol. I’m sure many of you can relate. The joys of motherhood.

Fairy delight

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Had one of my very best friends come over yesterday and we had a little shoot with her daughter and two neices and I always have so much fun with them as they love to dress up and love to pose for me, I was in heaven. I have only managed to edit one of Savannah, my best friend’s daughter, but expect to see a few more from the session soon.

Night and Day

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I have to say that I was so not prepared for exactly how different my boys would be! Don’t get me wrong, I knew they would have their differences between them but its like they are just about the exact opposite of each other and it just amazes me on a daily basis. One has burned black hair and one has sandy blonde hair, one didn’t sleep for almost a full year when first born and the other slept all night from 6 weeks on. One loves to cuddle, and one wants nothing to do with it as he can’t still for more than a second unless its to watch spongebob, lol. One loves to pray and go to church and the other well he doesn’t, he’ll talk during prayers and will do anything he can not to go to church. One loves breakfast, the other hates it, one loves going to sleep and the other hates it and fights tooth and nail not to go to bed. One loves having his picture taken and one hates it with every fiber of his being, and this last point is the only one I really have a problem with as its so hard to take just one good picture of the two of them and it seems like I only get one a year that I like. Its so frustrating being a photographer and being able to take good shots of “other” kids but not mine, or at least not one of mine, lol. I’m hoping as he grows it will get easier, right? Am I fooling myself? Well if I am, I can dream and hope and pray and I’ll deal with all the other differences but I may just pull my hair out if he doesn’t get over having his picture taken.

For now, here is the ONE shot I got of the two of them, and I hardly believe I got it, and not thrilled with it, but hey, it will have to do cuz I don’t have ANY others, lol. It was fun in hindsight but it was HARD work. I do have a few more shots of the two of them individually but I’ll post those at a later date. Just wanted to post the one of the two of them together, especially since it will probably be the only I get of them together this year, lol.

My boys

Ori & Sandra

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Who would think that on a January day here in Toronto that the weather would be so nice, but it was, it was +4 which is great as we are used to -40 with windchills here, so this made me very happy, especially since I had a shoot with a young pretty girl downtown and I didn’t want her to freeze.

Happily she came with her mom who was a previous client and we did a fun indoor studio session and since the weather was so nice and I knew there was a bunch of graffiti’d walls nearby,  we decided to hit the streets as well.

Both beautiful and vivacious women and so much fun to work with. We laughed and chatted and caught up since the summer when I saw Sandra last.

It was a pleasure meeting such a beautiful and sweet young lady and it was great to see her mom again who is always full of love and life and joy, it was a great day, and I can’t thank you ladies enough. Enjoy your sneak peeks.
