Karla’s Family

Monday, May 30th, 2011

When Karla agreed that sunnyside would be our location for this session, I knew we would have a wonderful session there. After all, its where hubby and I had our wedding pictures taken some 12 years ago. It’s been and always will be one of my most favourite locations to shoot in. It has everything that you want, the beach, beautiful architecture and a lovely boardwalk and lots of trees and grass. Many great locations and with this family I could have stayed there all day photographing them.

After meeting Karla and her hubby Danny and their oh so cute lil boy Mateo, I pointed out the goose that was living in a planter near where we began our session. I was even more surprised when she stood up and revealed she was taking care of her eggs and I managed to take a shot right before she sat back down on them. It was a great way to start off this session.

We so enjoyed photographing Karla’s family and we laughed and talked and even though it looked like it may rain right before the session started, the rain thankfully stayed away.

Karla, thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your precious family, I hope you enjoyed your time with us and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

PV 2011- Toronto – MPH Photography

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

It took months of planning and it all came together last weekend in Toronto, where a bunch of us photographers got together from different parts of the country and in the states and we set up 4 shoots in 2 days and so it began.

It was exciting to see everyone and we got a bit of a chance to chit chat while our models were getting ready in the hotel room. The girls stayed at the Delta Chelsea hotel in downtown Toronto and we planned all the shoots in and around this hotel and the downtown area. We had the amazing Cherry of Surekha Artistry doing our hair and makeup and she did a fantastic job and can’t wait to work with her again. Once the models were ready we headed over to graffiti alley. It was a warm day thankfully and leading up to it the weather reports said nothing but rain, so we were grateful they were wrong. It was an amazing shoot and with our gorgeous models, Krystal, Brittney, Nathalia and our card playing model Jack.

We had a nightime session set up at Dundas square, across the Eaton centre and located at Yonge and Dundas but as we started walking there it began to rain a little. We managed to take a few shots but not as many as we wanted too and I’m hoping to go back there again soon. Our models Jacklyne and Danielle were both beautiful and fun girls. We also had another model Melissa who couldn’t make it at the last minute which was unfortunate as her boyfriend had planned to propose to her at the session. He ended up proposing later on that night and we wish them all the happiness in the world.

The following day we shot a bridal and we had gorgeous models again, and I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out, everyone was on time and the whole weekend went off without a hitch except for the rain. Our models Marta and Diana and Isha and Jen and Collin were all wonderful and although I managed to get  a few shots outdoors with Marta the rain started to come down and we ended up finishing off the session in the hotel.

That night we did a short boudoir shoot as well and we had all kinds of props from shoes to pearls to feathers to choose from. It was definitely a memorable weekend, and so much fun.

Thank you to my girls for coming out and spending a couple of days in T.O. and hope you enjoyed our city and hope you had a fun weekend. Let’s do it again soon, lol. Special thanks to the models and to Cherry our makeup artist/ hairstylist extraordinaire who make all our models look so gorgeous.

Here are TONS of images and I may have to post some more because there are so many more that I love as well.

Heather – MPH Photography – Toronto

Before I begin showing you some of the fabulous shots we got during this session, I need to thank my friend and mentor Silvana of  http://www.impulsephotographyblog.com/ for her inspiration. Not too long ago I took part in her amazing workshop where she told us that she doesn’t plan a location for her engaged couples, in fact they just get in the car and go, no plan, no set location, and if they see a place that’s interesting that’s where they stop. Well, I have never heard of such a thing, how could you just get in the car and go, so many what if scenarios came to mind and I honestly didn’t think this idea would work for me.

Well along comes my dear friend and client Heather who had a few ideas on what she wanted for her session and there were so many places that we liked that we couldn’t settle on just one and as we were having such a hard time deciding my dear hubby says, let’s just drive. I had told him about Silvana’s idea and he was all for it, he actually told the client and I that he would take care of everything and he would drive around and we would get out and shoot, so that’s what we did. I was nervous but I trusted him, he knows downtown Toronto like the back of his hand and the locations he took us too that day were absolutely fabulous!

We went to alley’s, to a Buddhist temple, to lamport stadium, on the tracks near the CNE and beside the CN tower, to a catholic church and then to Old Fort York where we almost asked a few of the miltary guys to help us out with a shot, but it was getting late and so we left, but I’m kicking myself for not getting that one pose with those boys in their fatigues. Despite not getting that one shot, we got so many other beautiful images and I was so excited about this session and had so much fun, and definitely encourage anyone who wants headshots, or just nice and interesting  pictures of themselves to book a session with me and we can go out and drive around, and just find different and unique spots to shoot in.

Heather, my little pixie, thank you for being such a perfect subject to photograph. Your smile and laugh and sweetness comes through in every photograph. I love you darling and you know I think your gorgeous inside and out and I think this session with you will go down as one of my all time favourites, and I hope we get to do it again soon.

Enjoy your huge sneak peek,lol.

Baby Molly – 6 days old – MPH Photography – Toronto

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

I’m honoured every time I’m asked to photograph a newborn, because each and every baby that I have the pleasure of photographing is always a gift, a blessing and a miracle. From those cute little baby toes to that little tiny nose, they are just perfect and amazing and the end result is always that they make me want to have another, lol.

We drove out to Bowmanville on Friday to photograph little Molly who was only 6 days old and she is the sweetest little newborn baby girl. I was particularly excited when I found out that daddy is a firefighter and we could use his hat to put baby in during the session, as this was a first for me. With each shot, I kept falling more in love with this beautiful little girl, and although she didn’t sleep much, we did manage to get a few sleepy images of her.

Thanks for having us come out and capture your daughter’s first few days in this world. It was a pleasure meeting you all as well as big sister Sophie bear, who is a doll too and wish we could have taken a few shots with her, but hopefully next time.

Enjoy your sneak peek.
