Kirsti & Jeff – Toronto – MPH Photography

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

I have to say that couples sessions are definitely one of my favourite type of session, and to be able to capture the love between two people is a special job. I am there to document the love they share and to capture their personalities together as a couple on film. I always have so much fun at these types of sessions, and there is always alot of laughter and lots of sweet careless moments that are shared by my couples as well.

For this session, I met up with Kirsti and Jeff and we went to high park and its just so lovely there, its a huge park but its absolutely gorgeous and I could have spent all day there photographing Kirsti and Jeff.

These two met in Vacnouver while Kirsti was in school and when she graduated,  Kirsti moved from Vancouver to be with Jeff who was now here in Toronto,  and now they are getting married this October back in Vancouver and so this was sort of a e-session.

They share a love for starbucks coffee and for their blackberry’s, so we incorporated these two loves of theirs into the pictures, lol.

They were also sweet enough to bring us a bag of coffee as I told Kirsti that my hubby is a coffee fanatic, he lives and breathes the stuff, so it was so sweet and thoughtful when she gave him a bag of starbucks coffee, don’t you know, we rushed home just so he could make a pot and to his surprise we forget we did not have a grinder so he pulled out the blender and proceeded to get his coffee fix!lol.

Thanks Kirsti and Jeff for such a fun shoot, Chris and I had such a lovely time with you and we wish you both all the happiness in the world as you get married in Vancouver.

Enjoy your sneak peek.

Having fun with Blackberry

Thanks again you two!! Have a wonderful wedding day!

Simone’s big family – Toronto – MPH Photography

Monday, September 13th, 2010

I love repeat clients and I love seeing old friends again, especially ones from highschool, so I was really looking forward to this session, since it was with one of my old classmates from highschool and she happens to be a repeat client as well.

Simone and I went to St. Joseph’s college and we only got in touch a little while ago via facebook and I’ve had so much fun photographing her family. First time around, it was just the 4 of them, her and her hubby and her daughter Chloe and son Leo, and this time it was also with her parents and her two brothers Michael and Brian. It was such a pleasure meeting her parents and brothers and it was a nice day and just about perfect for a photoshoot with this family.

Sometimes no matter what you do, you just can’t get your sweet and adorable little subject to smile for you, and Leo smiled so nicely for me the first time around but this time, he wasn’t having that, lol. He also wanted mommy’s calming arms at all times and I could understand his anxiety, here’s a stranger with a big fat camera in his face and he didn’t like it one bit, lol. I did get a couple of shots but even without a smile, one can’t help but take cute shots of this little boy and Chloe is such a sweet and pretty little thing, just like her mom.

It was a fun time,  we got touching and adorable shots of the grandparents, cute shots of the kiddos, and  funny shots with the Simone and her brothers, they even climbed a pyramid of rocks just for the shot, gotta love that.

Now that we have found each other again Simone,  I hope to stay in touch more often, and I have a feeling we will.

Simone, I can’t thank you and your family enough, it was awesome to see you again and thanks again for another wonderful session. Maybe next time we’ll get Leo to smile a bit more, lol.

My 39th Birthday – Toronto – MPH Photography

Friday, September 10th, 2010

It was September 9 1971, and my mother was working in a restaurant that my parents bought in Orono with my father and she was 9 months along and that morning 3 of her waitresses up and quit and she was left to do all the work while my father cooked in the kitchen. As all the truck drivers and neighbouring folk would come on over for breakfast,  to get there steak and eggs and hash browns with a cup of java, my mother began to feel extreme pain and she began to bleed alot, and shortly there after my father rushed her to the Grace hospital, which is in downtown Toronto, and was quite a ways from Orono. She lost alot of blood and my mother feared she would lose me if they didn’t get to the hospital in time.

God was definitely with her that day and she gave birth to her little baby girl, and I am told and remember being a handful but cute and adorable and although a spirited child, I cared alot about others and always wanted to make people smile (who knew I would become a photographer one day and still make people smile, lol).

I can’t believe 39 years have passed by, flown by, and now that my oldest is 7 and my youngest is 4 I think where has the time gone? Kids grow up soo fast, too fast and then before you know it they are off and going off to school, getting married, having babies. This is just another reason why I feel the need to document everything I can, as you can always count on pictures, you can look back on precious and cherished images and the feelings and emotions of that day come right back, its actually a pretty awesome thing and I couldn’t have asked for a better job cuz I get to experience this feeling on a regular basis.

So for my 39th birthday, my hubby and my mom got me a Canon 5D Mark II and I am beyond thrilled and have had SO much fun with this camera, I just LOVE it! I’m also going out with a few of my girls tonight, its dinner and cake night and just time to hang out and chat and catch up, so I’m really looking forward to that.

This week was also the first week of school for my youngest, his first day in JK and my oldest is now in grade 2 and he’s a seasoned veteran and was showing his little brother all about “their” school. It was so cute and I managed to take a couple of shots of them, lol. So, below is a shot of the boys at home about to go to school and then a collage of them going to school. Then, I’m adding my fabulous cake! It’s just amazing and I am going to hate cutting into it but I can’t wait to eat it and am so torn, lol. It was made by Nicole Cadorin Varganyi of Krazy kakes, you can find her on facebook as her site is not working right now. I can’t thank her enough for the fantastic job she did, she definitely helped make my 39th birthday very special. Thanks again Nicole.

and my spectacular CAKE!!!

and a couple of shots of me as a kid.

My father and I feeding the pigeons in Athens Greece.

Greek easter, my father would always buy these huge chocolate basket, yes, its all made out of chocolate!!

this is my village in Kaloxilos, Naxos, Greece, where my grandmother and father were born and where I spent most of my summers as well.

And I just wanted to say thanks for all the wonderful and sweet bday related comments that so many of you left on my wall on facebook, it really meant so much to me and I can’t thank you all enough for your well wishes and for all the love that you have shown me, God bless.

Jacklyne- Toronto – MPH Photography

Monday, September 6th, 2010

I love Jacklyne, I’ve shot her before and I just love it when a girl is up for anything and is willing to get into freezing cold water for a LONG time just to get that one shot, lol. She was awesome to photograph and we had so much fun and even stayed much later than anticipated because we just couldn’t stop photographing her, I actually had no memory left so I had to finish when we did, lol.

It was hard to choose as there are many shots that I love, but here are just a few of the ones I love the most.

Thanks for being so wonderful to work with Jacklyne. Enjoy.

Toronto Photographer Get together – MPH Photography

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Every so often a few of us photographers get together and we invite some models/clients to pose for us. This time I set it up at bluffer’s park, and although it was really cloudy out and a bit cool, we had a good turnout and lots of cute kiddos to photograph and one beautiful young lady as well.

I want to thank everyone who came out, Melanie, Krista, Andrea, Jeni and her lil guy Gavin, Cheryl and her little girls Lauren and Jillian, Kristina, Sharon and her little ones and Lindsay and her little boy Owen, and Jacklynn. They all took the time to come out and even though it was a pretty windy and definitely different than the rest of this summer, we managed to have lots of fun and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I even convinced Jacklynn to get into the water, and let me tell you something, that water is FREEZING cold, so that she got in at all, was amazing. Thanks again everyone.

Here is part one of the get together, just the kiddos…

Couldn’t have asked for any cuter kids! Part II to come soon…..
